Within the scope of the OpSciTech programme, there are also opportunities for non-European Union visiting scholars (academics and/or professionals of outstanding experience) who may wish to carry out teaching and research assignments and scholarly work in any of the OpSciTech consortium institutions.
The European Commission will provide some grants of 14,400€*(Euro), corresponding to stays of three months duration, for scholars coming from any non-EU country.
Within four weeks of the end of the submission deadline, all applications will be reviewed and assessed by the OpSciTech Board, and the respective applicants will be informed of the preliminary assessment outcome. The latter will then be submitted for final confirmation and approval of the European Commission.
* This includes three monthly grants and a fixed amount for travel expenses.

Conditions
  • Visiting scholars from non-EU countries are defined as:
    nationals coming from all countries other than the 27 EU Member States.
  • who are not residents of any of the above countries
  • who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries.

- in London: Pr Deepak MATHUR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India)
- in Paris: Pr Dengfeng KUANG (Nankai University, China)
- in Warsaw: Pr Joanna SCHMIT (University of Arizona United States).

For academic year 2009-10:
- in Jena: Pr Kyunghwan OH (Yonsei University, South Korea)
- in Delft: Pr Virendra N. MAHAJAN (the Aerospace Corporation, California)

Deadlines

Interested applicants are invited to kindly e-mail us through the contact page a copy of their Curriculum Vitae and list of publications/achievements, together with a letter of intent describing the envisaged plan of activities during the three months stay at the OpSciTech consortium (description of the collaboration programme with at least one research group or professor among the OpSciTech consortium, dates of envisioned stay between September 2010 and August 2011 and possibility to teach in OpSciTech course).
Application which would not indicate the description of the collaboration programme intended will not be examined.
